Teacher Training Syllabus

Upon completion of the course you will receive a nationally recognized certification and the ability to register with Yoga Alliance at level RYT-200 (Yoga Teacher).

Techniques, Training and Practice: 95 Hours

• The 4 B's - Brain, Body, Breath & Balance
• Energy - Shakti, Qi, Source, Movement, Balancing, Breathing
• Asana - The practice of 100 asana
• The science & art of the sun salutation
• Meditation - Mindful, Chakra breathing, Loving-Kindness, Guided, Tonglen
• Mindfulness
• Qigong
• Restorative yoga
• Chair yoga
• Chanting

Teaching Methodology: 25 Hours

• Communication skills
• Principles of teaching vinyasa
• Addressing the needs of special populations • Developing observational skills

Anatomy and Physiology: 30 Hours

• Skeletal system • Circulatory system • Major muscles • Nervous system • Endocrine system • Lymphatic system • Digestive system • Anatomical movements and contraindications

Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle and Ethics: 30 Hours

• Yoga Sutra, Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita• Qigong philosophy and science
• People who influenced yoga • Yoga styles • Ethics • Nutrition

Practicum: 20 Hours

• Practice teaching, Receiving and giving feedback, Assisting • Final presentation • Final exam

Dates & Times

Classes are on Saturday afternoons from 1 - 6 PM give or take a few hours depending on the student's needs, schedule, etc. The student need not come every Saturday and can manage his or her own number of hours.
